2021 Mourvèdre
La Sierra Vineyard—Block 8

Mourvèdre is hard to find in our neck of the woods, so we ventured to Shannon Ranch in northesastern Lake County. We were particularly enamored with Block 8 of La Sierra, where a small block of head-trained immaculately-farmed Mourvedre wraps the western slope of a hilltop and yields incredible fruit for us to make this wine.
91 Points "Wine Enthusiast" - This wine is pretty with layers and layers of nuanced notes suggesting roses, violets, fresh-picked boysenberry, ripe black plum, toasted wood, star anise, a dusting of cacao, fresh fennel fronds and a touch of capsicum. The full-bodied palate introduces firm, structural tannins, warming alcohol and modest acidity, which all elevate the beauty of the aromas and flavors. — Stacy Briscoe
