My Dad was an insatiable grape explorer - he wanted to make every variety from every region. Though we made a few small lots of Viognier over the years for blending, we never made a varietal bottling. It makes me proud and happy to complete one of the few unfinished grape expeditions we started together.

The fruit for this wine comes from a vineyard in the Suisin Valley, just southeast of Napa. The grapes were divided into different lots and fermented with a Saccaromyces Bayanus yeast, a Saccaromyces Cerevisae yeast, and a Candida Zemplenina (a non-Sacch yeast used for low alcohol wines), with the latter used to contribute to a more complex and aromatic wine. The seperate lots are then blended together to create this wine, and we couldn't be happier with the results. On the nose this wine opens up with a waft of nectarines, peaches and orange blossoms all while being caressed by subtle notes of butter. The palate shows more of the same, along with subtle hints of jasmine and wet slate. No oak present.

Fun facts about the color gamboge:
Gamboge is a deep yellow pigment derived from the gum of a species of an evergreen tree of the family Guttiferae which grows in Southesast Asia, primarily Cambodia and Thailand. The first use of the pigment dates back to the 8th century and gets its name from a now-antiquated name for Cambodia, Camboja.

In Greek Myth, Tyche is the Goddess of fortune. She is the arbiter of luck and controls the destiny of a community; a (capricious) protector that gifts prosperity and dispenses ill fortune. In 2021—after a string of wildfires, pandemic, and drought—we decided to take things into our own hands. Instead of playing it safe in a precarious moment, we went on a rampage of taking chances and pushing our boundaries. This blend is entirely compromised of those chances. Don't get me wrong—I'm not forsaking Tyche—but I'm not waiting around either. This wine is the liquid equivalent of "fine, I'll do it myself". And in making it, we made our own fate. - Lucas Meeker

Larry Venturi’s family has tended vines on the benchland above Calpella for over 100 years. He is the archetypical old-timer in all the best ways; the kind of grower who plants head-trained and dry-farmed Grenache in 2017 and then farms it organically because that’s how he farms everything. This block is on the uppermost bench of his ranch, and the slightly higher elevation and farming techniques help limit these young vines of a vigorous variety to a moderate crop of intense concentration.

    100% Pinot Noir
    Petaluma Gap - Sonoma County
    12.7% Alcohol by Volume

Yes, its true, we got back into the Pinot Noir game in 2018, when we received some fruit from a vineyard in the Petaluma Gap. The fruit came in a little late, so we did a bleed off of some of the juice to improve the overall quality of the Pinot Noir we're making from it. And rather than letting that beautiful pink juice go to waste, we held on to it to be made into a rosé. We offered the wine to one of our favorite local restaurant clients SingleThread Farms, as an exclusive wine for their wine program this summer and with their permission can offer it to you as well. If you are not familiar with SingleThread Farms (singlethreadfarms.com), the farm, restaurant, and inn opened here in Healdsburg in December 2016 and just recently received a 3 star Michelin rating. It is quite an honor to have our wines featured on their wine list and to collaborate with them on this wine. The wine is gorgeous! Lovely light pink-orange color greets you to a nose of lemon peel, watermelon rind, green papaya, and kaffir lime. The palate shines with sunkissed Meyer lemon up front, a focused lime mid-palate, and a fleshy, green-applesauce finish.
