Lucas J Cellars 2009 Vella Ranch Pinot Noir 2009 Lucas J Pinot Noir Vella Ranch Carneros

    Los Carneros, Sonoma County
    14.1% ABV

The 2009 Vella Ranch was the second Pinot Noir released, and it is emblematic of my style of Pinot Noir. The nose is bright and luscious primary cherry and grape with slight hints of vanillin and oak. On the palate, the wine punches with big red berry character in the front of palate and a loud mid-palate that exhibits lots of grape tannin and softer touches of integrated French oak. The finish is long and balanced with medium alcohol and good acidity. This wine is bright, new-school California Pinot Noir with an old-school backbone of acidity and tannin.

    Sonoma Coast, Sonoma County

This is a classic Pinot Noir. It has the hallmark flavors of a Sonoma Pinot, including cherries, clove, herbal notes, and hints of black pepper. And it’s rich on the palate with a long lasting, spicy finish. You’ll love the balance of fruit and earthy flavors. And you’ll wonder how it would pair with a cherry turnover you got at your favorite bakery while you contemplate opening another bottle.

Merlot is a powerhouse, with fruit, tannin and complexity that stands up to your most muscular steak and risotto dinner or evening spent watching the stars come out. The beautiful package is no match for the gorgeous wine within - rich cherry fruit and big, intense tannins and flavor. This wine will stay bottle stable and age for at least a decade, or make a beautiful centerpiece to your Thanksgiving, Hanukkah or Christmas table.
